Happy June!

Hello Reader,

Two years ago, I was a nervous wreck. Scott was a wreck, and Allie was cool as a cucumber. I *knew* I would leave the hospital with all my cancer gone, but I had no idea what the journey post-surgery would look like. How long it would take, or when I would feel like "just Jeane" again?

I’m so, so fortunate to have great support from family, friends, and my medical team. My grandma always said I had a guardian angel, and I like to think she and my Dad were extra angels getting me through the last couple of years if you believe in that kind of magic. ✨

It was the work I put in before my breast cancer diagnosis that helped me the most. In late 2019 I started taking my health more seriously after suddenly losing my father shortly after he retired. I knew I didn't want that to be me because I didn't nourish my body and mind, take breaks, or exercise. Scott and I made changes that I'm proud to say we've turned them into lifestyle changes and habits so they don't feel like a struggle or work.

For our businesses, we made changes there too. We stopped chasing things that were distracting us from our goals (mostly 😊). We added SOPs, streamlined our systems – finally hired a Bookkeeper and Accountant – and joined a Mastermind.

I don't say this to make it seem like everything is great. Life is learning. I learned some things, and I just wanted to share because maybe, just maybe, it will help someone else do it a little earlier and make it a little easier.

Here's the thing

That early work I put in made my diagnosis better.

It's the same scenario for your website. Doing the work in the background to fix your settings, plan for SEO, and keep your site maintained ALL works together to make your site better down the road.

It's not sexy. Heck, it's not always fun. But it pays off.

What's next?

It's the beginning of a new month, and we're almost halfway through 2023. Now is a great time for regularly scheduled site maintenance.*

I recently blogged about Mobile Optimization on Website HQ, but I think a better resource is a checklist of tips you can follow. Since you're on my list, Reader I'm giving you the Checklist before I add it to our website for everyone. You can make a copy and add it to your Google Drive here.

I hope you have an awesome day!

Jeane

ps - Please, remember to schedule your mammogram and regular health screenings. ✌️ If you are nervous about getting screened, let me know. I’m happy to cheer you on.

*My clients get this done for them so they never have to worry about maintenance and security.
