Hey, it’s Jeane 👋

I'm a day late this week because of human issues - crazy thunderstorm that knocked out power and a mis-scheduled vet appointment threw may day out of whack. My emails are from me not handled and scheduled by AI, although Claude was delighted and almost proud to tell me I was the problem.

So lets go!

If AI keeps handing you generic mush, it’s almost never the AI. It’s the prompt and context. The fix is one habit: give it a role, your real details, and a hint of how you sound. Like everything else crap in, crap out 💩.

So here are five prompts I’d hand you before you open ChatGPT, Claude or whichever AI you prefer again. Copy them, swap in the brackets with good details and context, go.

  1. Find the words your customers actually search “You’re my ideal customer: a [type of business owner] who [problem they have]. List 15 phrases you’d actually type into Google to find someone like me. Do research about this type of customer and find the pain points and words they are saying, not industry jargon.” The key here is to think about what you hear from your best customers, what questions you answer over and over to fill in those brackets with plenty of context. Use it when you’re stuck on what to write about. Those phrases are your content list.
  2. Make a page answer-first (so AI can quote it) “Here’s a page from my site: [paste]. Rewrite the headings as the exact questions a customer would ask, and put a one-sentence answer directly under each. Keep my meaning. Don’t add fluff.” Use it on your most important page. It’s how you become the thing AI cites.
  3. Reply to a review in 20 seconds “Write a warm, specific two-sentence reply to this Google review. Mention [a real detail] so it doesn’t sound templated. Voice: [friendly / professional]. Review: [paste].” Use it to keep your profile active without the dread.
  4. Turn one idea into three posts “Turn this into a LinkedIn post, an Instagram caption, and a 30-second talking-to-camera script. Same idea, my voice, one point each, no hashtag salad. Here it is: [paste].” Use it so one good thought becomes a week of content.
  5. Pressure-test your own copy “You’re a skeptical [ideal customer]. Read this and tell me honestly where you’d stop reading and why, and the one sentence that would make you trust me: [paste].” Use it before anything goes live. It’s the cheapest editor you’ll ever have.

What makes these work even better is having a second brain system. If you haven't heard the term before it's not new in the AI-era. Tiago Forte started writing about this concept in 2012. A second brain helps you and your AI stay organized, learn from previous output and sound consistent. I implemented it in my Claude earlier this year to test. My partner, Scott adopted it, adapted parts and we're preparing a micro-course that will launch soon. Reply and let me know if you're interested in hearing more about it.

The other thing I mentioned more than once above is context. Over the last two months I've been using Wispr Flow to talk my prompts and thoughts into (everything) my AI and I'm hooked. I give better instructions than typing becuase I'm more free-thinking, not focused on the next word to key in. Most of this email was dictated. Plus, you can create shortcuts for things you type frequently. Now, when I sy book me this automagically appears, 'Grab time on my calendar to talk about your website or project here!'

Let's wrap this up...

Your one move this week

Run number one. In under 10-minutes you’ll have the exact phrases strangers use to find businesses like yours. Then write one page that answers the top one, plainly.

Reply and tell me which one you’re stealing. I’m curious which lands.

See you next Tuesday,
Jeane (sounds like Genie) Sumner
